All Big Cats Roar. Biologists place it in a genus all its own (acinonyx), simply because it can’t retract its claws completely. Tigers sure do have an effective immobilization and intimidation factor in their roars, however, just like other big cats, tigers do not roar while hunting, since the loud vocalizations may scare and drive away potential prey rendering the hunt wo.
